Kit Atkinson made his name with the London-based band The Kits, and just last year dropped the debut album We Better Operate from his short-lived trio The Spasms. His new band, Kit Convict & Thee Terrible Two, features Kits bassist Michael Cleverly and newfound drummer Ben Lynn.

They recorded their debut LP Watch Your Skull to tape with Andrew ‘Idge’ Hehir (Kim Salmon, Ron S Peno) at Sound Park Studios. Hehir also mixed it, before Mikey Young stepped in to master it.

The trio bash out primitive, hard-stomping garage songs in the tradition of The Gories, The Cramps and Billy Childish, nodding to punk and psych as well as Halloween-appropriate ghoulishness (dig what sound likes a Theremin on ‘Sacrifice Your Spirit to the Dead’). The name-your-price lead single ‘Coyote’ has a British-sounding snideness to the vocals and a frayed guitar solo that harks back to the early days of rock ‘n’ roll, while ‘Kit Convict Wild Convict’ brandishes a Kinks-y riff and ‘Domino’ sounds quite a bit like first-album Eddy Current.
